Luke, the Evangelist
Today we celebrate the feast day of St Luke (died 74), disciple of Saint Paul, writer of the Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles, and martyr for the Church. In his Gospel, Luke emphasizes Christ's compassion for sinners and for all those who suffer. He also records a strong emphasis on the role women played in Christ's ministry.
Almighty God, who inspired Your servant Luke the Physician to set forth in the Gospel the love and healing power of Your Son: Graciously continue in Your Church the love and power to heal, to the praise and glory of Your Name, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Rev Tom Quenet, the Circuit Superintendent, has written to all churches in the Tynedale Methodist Circuit indicating that he is seeking to ‘sit down’ (retire) from his post in August 2016 on health grounds.
A copy of the letter is posted in the vestibule. You are asked to pray for Tom and Judith at this difficult time.

The Gift Aid tax recovery from HMRC for the year ending 6th April 2015 was £9724.10. Needless to say, this is a very important contribution to church income and highlights the importance of the Gift Aid scheme to our financial position.
Many thanks to all friends who gift-aid their regular giving and to all who contribute through donations at church events held throughout the year.
Anyone who would like to know more about the Gift Aid scheme and/or how to register is invited to speak to John McCabe
